Chelsea linked with former Real Madrid full-back

Chelsea have been linked with a surprise move for Fiorentina left-back Marcos Alonso, according to Italian sports journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

As the Blues are working hard to bolster their defence before transfer window closes in five short days, the Spanish full-back has emerged as Chelsea’s latest target.

The 25-year-old is a Real Madrid Youth product, and became famous in England during his time in Bolton Wanderers.

He later moved on to join Italian side Fiorentina, where he has played since 2013, representing Premier League side Sunderland on a short loan in 2014, making 16 appearances for the Black Cats during his six-month spell at Stadium of Light.

Chelsea are in need of a new full-back, a centre-half and a midfielder, according to reports.

Wolfsburg star Ricardo Rodriguez has also emerged as a defensive target for Antonio Conte’s side, as he’s reportedly available for £17m, with Real Madrid also fighting for his signature.
