Chelsea’s search for a new full-back could be coming to an end as German newspaper BILD has reported that Switzerland International, Ricardo Rodriguez, is looking for a new challenge in his career and wants to join Antonio Conte at Chelsea.
Wolfsburg’s Sporting Director Klaus Allofs is reluctant to allow the 23-year-old to depart this summer, but his hand may be forced with the left-back’s desire to play in the Premier League.
Chelsea are hoping to do business with the Bundesliga side before the end of the window and could submit an offer in the region of €20 [£17.1] million for Rodriguez.
It’s clear that the West London club are in need of reinforcements in the defence. Despite it being widely reported that the Blues are looking at centre-backs, the potential arrival of Ricardo Rodriguez would mean being able to drop Branislav Ivanovic if the Serbian fails to step up to the plate set by Conte.
