Chelsea approach Caceres transfer

Although the transfer window came to a halt on Wednesday night, Antonio Conte is contemplating the possibility of being reunited with his former player according to Calcio Mercato.

Chelsea announced the signings of David Luiz and Marcos Alonso on deadline day, but the Blues’ Italian manager is still unsatisfied with his squads defensive depth and could make a move for Uruguayan international Martin Caceres – who is currently without a club after departing Juventus in June.

Conte has enquired about Caceres’s current physical state after picking up persistent injuries in recent years, which saw the versatile defender only feature 5 times for the Old Lady in his final year at the club.

Free agents can move freely to clubs outside the transfer window, but the 29-year-old defender will cost Chelsea £2.5 million to acquire his signature if they were to make a move.
