Chelsea’s Transfer Window Recap: Ins, outs and loan army

The 2016 Summer transfer window concluded at 11pm on Wednesday night which means no more acquisitions until the Winter window. Chelsea will now have to submit the squad that will aid their early push for end of season glory.

It was a frustrating yet successful window for the 2014/15 Premier League champions as the Blues looked to return back to where they belong and contest for the silverware once again. A couple a months full of ups, downs and surprise circumstances which saw a Munich hero return to the club he once loved.

The window ended in success, despite the dissatisfaction of those who thought unrealistic targets were a possibility and often mocked the board via novelty social media accounts, unable to admit the fact that the board provided Antonio Conte the players he needed to make Chelsea formidable force again, even if it was left to the final day.

Chelsea’s loan army expanded once again and has reached record numbers. The club now has 37 players out on loan around the world, some are youth players looking to make the next step into professional football whilst others are looking to gain first team football – something the new manager may have been able to provide. Of the 72 EFL teams, 16% have registered a Chelsea player in their squad this season.
