Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has stated that he wants Andreas Christensen to return to Chelsea next season from loan, despite Borussia Mönchengladbach’s interest to sign the player permanently, Express reports.
The Denmark international was an influential player for the Bundesliga side last season, as he’s currently on the second half of his two-year loan deal with the German club.
And reports in German have hinted M’Gladbach to be keen on a permanent move for the 20-year-old, as they’re ready to break the bank and sign Christensen on a club-record fee of £21m next summer.
The young center-back says he hasn’t thought about his future with Chelsea, but admits it will be a difficult choice to make when the time comes.
I have not spoken with Chelsea about my situation. It is a difficult decision, which I have not thought about.
Christensen signed for Chelsea in 2012, but has only made three first-team appearances in the Blues outfit.
Chelsea’s other center-backs Gary Cahill and David Luiz will be over 30-years-old next season, while John Terry is out of contract after the campaign.
Christensen made a total of 39 appearances in all competitions for Borussia M’Gladbach last season, also bagging three goals to his name.
