Kane signs new Chelsea contract

Chelsea youngster Todd Kane has signed a new three-year contract with the club, keeping him at Stamford Bridge until 2019, Chelsea’s official website have announced.

The English full-back has won the FA Youth Cup and Reserve League trophy during his time at the club, as he joined the West London side already in the age of eight.

Kane is currently recovering from a knee injury, which ruled him out from going out on loan in search of guaranteed playing time.

The 23-year-old spent majority of last season on loan with Eredivisie side NEC Nijmegen, having previously impressed for Championship side Blackburn Rovers.

He is yet to make a single appearance for the senior side, but was a back-up substitute in The Blues’s squad on their Champions League final in 2012, when Bayern München got beaten on penalties, when Chelsea was managed by Italian boss Roberto Di Matteo.
