Chelsea linked with £40M move for Celtic striker

Chelsea are interested in signing Celtic forward Moussa Dembele, according to the Express.

The Express report that the Blues will face competition from both Manchester clubs as well as La Liga giants Real Madrid in their hunt to secure the Frenchman’s signature.

Dembele signed for the Scottish champions in the summer after Fulham contract came to an end. He could be set for a move back to West London if the Express’ information is to be believed.

The tabloid report that Chelsea scouted Dembele as his side faced Ross County last week. They will likely have been impressed with what they saw, as the 20-year-old took his season tally up to 15 goals that night.

Here’s a taste of what the youngster can do, an smart back-heel finish in the Old Firm derby earlier this month.

It is reported by the Express that Dembele would cost as much as £40 million, but after signing a new big-money shirt deal with Nike, Chelsea are more than able to meet that valuation.

Diego Costa is firmly the number one choice upfront at Stamford Bridge, with Michy Batshuayi struggling to force his way into the side since signing in the summer. With Tammy Abraham also performing on loan and potentially returning to the club in the summer – does Antonio Conte need to add another striker to his ranks?

Perhaps not, but Dembele is showing his class at Celtic and it would be difficult to say no to signing a player of his quality.
