Antonio Conte and Diego Costa in Chelsea training.

Antonio Conte hails Chelsea star as one of the best in the world

Antonio Conte has revealed that he regards Diego Costa as one of the best strikers in the world, report the Daily Star.

Costa has been in fine form so far this campaign, and the Daily Star quote Conte in revealing just how highly he rates the Spaniard: “For me now, Diego is one of the best strikers in the world. He must continue that.”

Costa is currently the top goal-scorer in the Premier League after finding the back of the net nine times in our opening 11 games. Though he has proven his expert marksmanship many times in a Chelsea shirt, but his form has reached new heights this campaign.

Going into the start of this season, Costa had not scored a goal from outside the penalty area since 2013. That’s 82 consecutive goals inside the 18-yard box. This term, he has already scored two from outside the area, only Philippe Coutinho and Xherdan Shaqiri have scored more in the Premier League.

Conte’s switch to a 3-4-3 system appears to be doing wonders for the 28-year-old. Having Eden Hazard and Pedro playing alongside him in a more advanced area of the field is allowing him more space, and he is taking full advantage of it.

Long may his good form continue, it already fired us to one league title, it could well win us another.
