Chelsea apparently willing to let Nemanja Matic go

In one of the week’s more unlikely transfer stories, Chelsea are apparently happy to let first choice midfielder Nemanja Matic leave to Manchester United.

The story comes from Belgian paper Nieuwsblad, which claims that Matic would be allowed to go should Chelsea be able to complete the signing of Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan.

Apparently Jose Mourinho is so keen on Matic he’s willing to bring the Serbian up to Old Trafford – although why he would be so dedicated to a player who was dreadful last season s Mourinho was sacked at Chelsea is a mystery. The former Benfica man has improved hugely this seaosn and is almost back to the outstanding form he showed in the 2014/2015 season when he was a vital component of the title winning team.

Nainggolan is an excellent player and might well be an upgrade on Matic. But that’s not certain, and letting one of our first choice midfielders go doesn’t seem particularly smart given how well things have been going this season for Antonio Conte.
