Chelsea have been linked with yet another Serie A target, and yet another from Florence’s finest Viola.
The latest Fiorentina player apparently moving to Stamford Bridge is Federico Bernardeschi, who the Daily Express have today connected with a potential switch to the Bridge in January, following the links to central midfielder Milan Badelj earlier this week.
There doesn’t seem to be any particular substance to the Express’ reports beyond speculation, but it’s a move that would make sense. The 22 year old can play on both flanks, as a winger or even potentially as a wing back in Antonio Conte’s 343. This would provide cover in four positions which we are short in at the moment.
When it comes to recent signings from Fiorentina, Juan Cuadrado certainly falls on the “flop” side of the scale; while Marcos Alonso is tending towards “success”. Let’s hope that if Bernardeschi does join he will tend towards the latter rather than the former.
