Chelsea are said to be keeping tabs on Juventus wing-back Stephan Lichtsteiner, according to the Express.
The Express cite Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport who claim that Barcelona are eyeing a move for Lichsteiner, but the tabloid claims that Antonio Conte could be set to rival the La Liga giants.
Since the Blues switched to Conte’s favoured 3-4-3 formation, we have scored 16 goals and conceded zero. However, we do not have any natural wing-backs within our ranks and the Express believe Lichtsteiner could be a target as we search for the remaining pieces of the jigsaw.
Gazzetta dello Sport claim that the 32-year-old Juve veteran is out of contract at the Serie A champions in the summer and is unlikely to sign a new contract.
The prospect of signing player who would fit like a glove in Conte’s system is promising, but Victor Moses has been flawless in at right-wing-back so far and Lichtsteiner is approaching the swansong of his career.
Branislav Ivanovic is also out of contract at the end of the season. If he departs then it would be unwise not to replace his wealth of experience. On a free transfer, Lichtsteiner could be the right man.
