Chelsea are monitoring AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, according to Italian website CalcioMercato.
CalcioMercato claim that Manchester City are front-runners for Donnarumma as Pep Guardiola looks to find a long-term alternative to Claudio Bravo, but Chelsea are also named as one of the sides interested in the youngster.
Donnarumma is the dictionary definition of a prodigy. A 17-year-old that is the starting goalkeeper for Milan, who are well within the race for the Scudetto this campaign. He has also made his international debut for Italy, where he is seen as Gianluigi Buffon’s successor.
Chelsea are in no desperate need of a goalkeeper. We have Thibaut Courtois who ousted a club legend in Petr Cech in order to obtain the no.1 spot in our side. He is also only 24-years-old, and so we should be sorted in that position for the best part of a decade.
If there’s one thing we know about our board, though, it’s that they love to bring the world’s most exciting young players to the club, regardless of whether we need them or not.
This rumour is one to take with a pinch of salt, but here’s a taste of what Donnarumma can do. Let me remind you, he is only 17.
