Chelsea on red alert as Real Madrid superstar heads for the exit door

Chelsea will rival Manchester United for the signature of Real Madrid superstar James Rodriguez, according to the Sunday Express.

The Sunday Express report that Rodriguez is looking to leave Los Blancos in search of regular first-team football. They believe that Antonio Conte would be interested in bringing the Colombian to Stamford Bridge, having already attempted to sign him in the summer.

They note, however, that Real Madrid may be reluctant to sell the 25-year-old as they are facing a transfer ban which would leave them unable to replace him for two transfer windows. It is perhaps worth noting that even if Rodriguez were to leave, Zinedine Zidane’s side would still have a plethora of options in his position.

It remains to be seen where Conte would field Rodriguez if he did switch the Bernabeu for Stamford Bridge. Since switching to 3-4-3, Chelsea have been untouchable, and thus it would be unfair to drop any of the current setup to make room for the Real midfielder.
