Chelsea set new ten-year best record against Middlesbrough

Chelsea are now on their longest run without conceding a goal for over a decade.

Thibaut Courtois has not been beaten in the Premier League in nine hours and ten minutes. The last time we went that long without conceding was in 2005 under the management of Jose Mourinho.

Antonio Conte’s decision to switch to a 3-4-3 formation has paid dividends. At the time of writing we have played five and a half games without our opponents scoring, in that time we have scored 17 goals.

We are well on our way to topping the Premier League table, and few would say that it hasn’t been deserved. David Luiz notably has scarcely put a foot wrong since rejoining the club in the summer. His partnership with both Gary Cahill and Cesar Azpilicueta in our back three has been formidable.

John Terry cannot get a look-in at the moment, and it is looking unlikely that Kurt Zouma will either now that he has returned from a long-term injury.

We only hope that we haven’t jinxed it by writing this.
