Former Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole has revealed that he could return to the club in order to maintain his fitness, report Sky Sports.
The 35-year-old is currently playing for the Tampa Bay Rowdies in the North American Soccer League. He revealed to Sky Sports that he could be returning to England: “I’m going to start training this week, maybe to get back to West Ham or Chelsea for a bit of training.”
The Chelsea faithful will only have good memories of Cole, during his six year spell here he became somewhat of a fan favourite.
The former England international scored 40 goals in 281 appearances for the Blues during one of the most successful periods in our history. He played a part role in three Premier League triumphs, as well as lifting three FA Cups, two League Cups and two Community Shields.
In his peak years Cole was one of the most technically gifted midfielders that England have ever had, certainly none of the current crop compare. His inventive mind and quick feet were second to none. His progress was, unfortunately, stunted by injuries, but not before he was able to write his name into the Chelsea hall of fame.
