According to The Telegraph, Chelsea are set to offer star players Diego Costa and Thibaut Courtois contract renewals at Stamford Bridge, with both ex-Atletico Madrid men keen on signing.
Both players have recently been linked with an exit to La Liga, but after Antonio Conte proving the remarkable turnaround in the team’s form compared to last season’s performances, Costa and Courtois have no reason to leave.
The league’s top scorer and the league’s second lowest conceding goalkeeper both have their current deals dated until 2019, so there’s no immediate hurry for Chelsea to clinch them new contracts. The negotiations are bound to open near New Year, but the main thing is that Conte has been able to convince them to stay.
Costa, who currently has ten goals in 12 league games to his name, is earning £150,000-a-week at the moment, but could have his salary boosted up to £200,000-a-week with the renewed contract. Courtois, on the other hand, could also make a £50,000 improvement to his current £100,000-a-week deal.
