We have all become quite accustomed to brilliance from Lewis Baker, but the goal he has just scored for Vitesse may well just be new levels.
The 21-year-old had a successful campaign on loan in the Eredivisie last season, scoring five goals in 31 appearances. He has, however, bettered that tally in 18 less games this term.
The quality of the goals has been outstanding too. Baker has no weak foot, he uses both in equal measure and takes set-pieces with whichever better suits the situation. There are very few players in world football who have that asset.
He has been at Chelsea since he was 10-years-old, and out of all the players we have out on loan at this current time, he is comfortably one of the most talented.
During Vitesse’s game against Heerenveen this evening, Baker ran in behind the defence, controlled the ball and lifted it over the goalkeeper and into the far corner. He has absolutely no right to be scoring from there – what a talent he is.
