We have become quite accustomed to brilliant goals from academy product Lewis Baker in recent years.
Whether it be thunderous long-distance strikes or inch-perfect free-kicks, he has scored some absolute beauties.
The 21-year-old is enjoying an excellent second season at Vitesse, having scored seven goals in his opening 14 appearances so far this campaign. He only scored five in the entirety of last season, his goal-scoring exploits this term are a testament to his progression.
His quality was on display for all to see as England U-21s faced off against Italy U-21s at St. Mary’s, and he duly delivered.
Baker played a one-two with Derby’s Will Hughes before letting fly with his left-foot and finding the bottom corner.
Antonio Conte has proven that he is willing to give our youngsters opportunities if they prove themselves worthy, we can only hope he was tuned in last night.
.@England‘s @lew_baker finds the back of the net with a great strike to pull the #YoungLions level again.👏 #U21EURO https://t.co/VQxMXn3GQ0
