Chelsea after the “new Yaya Toure” to add new dimension to midfield

The impending big money departure of Oscar to China is going to leave Chelsea with a hole in their squad and a huge amount of money burning a hole in their pocket.

With the Brazilian set to depart in January and a lack of obvious replacements in the squad, it looks almost certain that Antonio Conte will have to make a move to replace the out of favour former Internacional man in January.

The name bubbling up at the rumour mill today is that of Franck Kessie, the dynamic midfielder compared to Yaya Toure by the Sun.

With 5 goals in 15 games from midfield for his club this term, he clearly has Yaya’s eye for goal. The two are both Ivorian too, making comparisons even easier.

Kessie has only been in European football for 18 months, initially on loan at Cesena in Serie B, but has clearly done a lot to impress – the Corriere dello Sport has Juventus and Milan joining Chelsea in pursuit of the youngster.
