Chelsea unlikely to have points deducted for Manchester City brawl

In the Premier League fixture between Chelsea and Manchester City two weeks ago, over 30 players, staff members and stewards were part of a big melee followed by Sergio Agüero’s horror tackle on David Luiz.

Reports in England were claiming that Chelsea could face a serious point deduction in addition to a heavy fine for breaking the FA E20 Rule for the fifth separate occasion inside the last 18 months – more than any other Premier League club. After last season’s brawl between Chelsea and Spurs at Stamford Bridge the Blues were warned that next time such offence takes place, a certain amount of points could be taken away from them.

The brawl started with Sergio Agüero’s ugly lounge on David Luiz at the edge of full-time.

However, Sky Sports believe that the rumours are ‘highly unlikely’ to have any truth behind them, especially when Chelsea weren’t the team who started the brawl.

Blues boss Antonio Conte didn’t really see a point with the speculation follow Chelsea’s 1-0 win over Wets Bromwich yesterday.

For me, if you are involved in a situation and the fault is not your one, you must pay? Why?

I don’t understand this. Manchester City and Chelsea, at the end of the game, my players tried to keep their calm. I don’t understand this. I repeat, I don’t understand this.

We are trying to improve in all aspects, also this. For this reason, I reply: you must be joking. You must be honest and understand which team is at fault.

The same source believe that the FA commission meeting will be held in the next few days to decide each team’s penalty.

Manchester City’s Sergio Agüero and Fernandinho already received a four and a three-game ban respectively, while none of the Blues players were charged.
