David Luiz dedicates victory to victims of the Chapecoense plane crash

Chelsea defeated Manchester City by three goals to one on Saturday afternoon to extend our lead at the top of the Premier League table.

In wake of the tragic plane crash earlier this week in which 71 Chapecoense players, coaching staff and  journalists lost their lives, David Luiz and Willian paid tribute to their compatriots.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, David Luiz dedicated yesterday’s victory to all of those that were not fortunate enough to walk away from the devastating crash, as the Telegraph report: “I want to dedicate this win to the people who died in Brazil.”

The Brazilian revealed that it was difficult to prepare for the game at the Etihad, as some of his friends were on board the plane when it crashed in Colombia: “It was difficult to get my head together as I had some friends there. We just need to pray for the victim’s families.”

It is a stroke of class from David Luiz, after a game that had very little.
