Fikayo Tomori ready to make huge step up to Championship football

Young Chelsea centre back Fikayo Tomoro has joined Championship promotion chasers Brighton on loan until the end of the season.

The 19 year old can play anywhere across the back line, and clearly Seagulls boss Chris Hughton sees him getting games in a variety of positions.

“We have brought in Fikayo on loan from Chelsea to provide us with some additional cover in the full-back positions, and we are delighted to welcome him to the club,” he told the Daily Mail.

Brighton’s regular right back Bruno has been out injured and Tomori may have a chance to play sooner than expected if the issue doesn’t clear up soon.

Tomori is extremely highly rated at Stamford Bridge and is thought of as one of the best defensive prospects at the club. After impressing with England U19s last summer he won a place in the UEFA European team of the tournament. He was also part of the Chelsea team that won the UEFA Youth League twice in 2015 and 2016.

This is an exciting moment for those who have watched Fikayo develop from the age of eight at Chelsea, and there are huge hopes for his future.
