Chelsea maintained a healthy nine point lead on the top of the Premier League table after a comfortable 3-1 victory over their North London rivals Arsenal last Saturday afternoon.
Marcos Alonso’s first-half header was doubled through Eden Hazard’s wonderful solo goal, and Cesc Fabregas took the advantage of a poor Petr Cech clearance before Olivier Giroud fired one back for the Gunners in the injury time.
The Blues boss Antonio Conte was very happy with the victory and how the team played yesterday, and praised how well Gary Cahill has done with his duty as Chelsea’s vice-captain for the past five months with the main skipper John Terry either benched or sidelined due to an injury.
“I want to underline that our captain is John Terry. He’s our captain and he’s doing the job very well and helping me a lot. Not only me but also his teammates.
His attitude and behaviour is fantastic. Gary is vice-captain and he’s captain on the pitch when John doesn’t play. I think he’s playing very well and he’s showing his quality. He’s a really good defender and I’m happy for him.”

Terry’s era at the club could be coming to its end at the end of the season, as his contract with the Blues outfit is set to run out and there’s no real sign of an extension to come.
