Chelsea 3-1 Swansea – Player Ratings

Chelsea extended their lead on top of the Premier League table today with a confident win over Swansea.

An early goal seemed to have the Blues on the right path, with some lovely one touch football coming out before half time. However a surprise Fernando Llorente goal from a nothing free kick just before the break changed the game’s complexion.

After the break things resumed as normal, with the Blues confidently regaining the lead through Pedro and then cruising to the finishing line with a third from Diego Costa merely extending their advantage.

Here are our ratings from today’s featured Chelsea players…

Starting Eleven:

Thibaut Courtois – 7 – Barely had a thing to do all game but looked confident coming for crosses and provided solid distribution from the back.

Cesar Azpilicueta – 8 – Another immaculate performance from the Spaniard, with the exception of an accidental handball which he was correctly not penalised for.

David Luiz – 7 – Gave the ball away cheaply in the first half on 00 a few occasions but otherwise another solid game orchestrating the Blues attack.

Gary Cahill – 7 – Dominant in the air and confident on the ground. Barely troubled by a feeble Swansea offensive effort.

N’Golo Kante – 7 – Dominant in the middle of the park and threatening going forwards.

Cesc Fabregas – 8 –Scored the opener and could have had more as he showed exactly why he was picked ahead of Nemanja Matic.

Marcos Alonso – 7 – Solid defensively but failed to provide much attacking impetus on the left.

Pedro – 8 – Was lucky with his goal but had earned it with constant menace down the flank.

Diego Costa – 7 – The Spaniard ended his mini-goal drought with a well taken finish after great work from Hazard.

Eden Hazard – 7 – Tricky between the lines, causing all manner of issues for a fragile Swansea back four.
