The January transfer window has finally come to a close, and looking back at the deals we pulled through, it really was a silent month looking at least when looking at the players we brought in.
The window began with a club record sale as Brazilian midfielder Oscar left the club in a £52m move to the Chinese Super League side Shanghai SIPG. The club’s long-serving midfielder John Obi Mikel also found his new life from the Far East, while young striker Patrick Bamford got tired of waiting for his first Chelsea appearance and made a £5.5m move back to Middlesbrough, where he was ever so successful on a loan spell two years ago.
Many rumours were linking Chelsea to moves for plenty of new additions, but it seemed like everything was just some speculation.

Chelsea’s second choice goalkeeper Asmir Begovic was also linked with a move away from the club, but Chelsea rejected two bids from AFC Bournemouth. Club legend Branislav Ivanovic, hwoever, is making his way away from the club as he has already completed a medical ahead of his move to Zenit St. Petersburg. The transfer window in Russia is still open, which makes the deal possible of completing even in February.
