Chelsea forward Diego Costa has been a vital player in the Blues’ title charge this season, scoring as many as 15 league goals for the West London side this term.
However, after a cracking first half to the season, Costa has only managed to score four goals to his name, playing the game with a whole other attitude that certainly concerns us Blues fans.
Manager Antonio Conte however is not too worried about Costa’s dip in form, regardless of his goalless run coming all the way to four games after last Wednesday’s win over Manchester City, where Eden Hazard scored both of Chelsea’s goals in a narrow 2-1 victory.
When Conte was asked about his view on the situation ahead of Chelsea’s trip to Bournemouth this Saturday, the Italian naturally remained calm stating it’s very natural for even the best players to go through a poor phase.
“I’m not concerned. It can happen.
For me, the most important thing is he is showing great commitment and behaviour during the games and is doing what I want. He was also unlucky in a lot of circumstances. But a player like Diego Costa can score in any game.
His character, his personality – that’s very important for us and the team. Also, Diego won in the past and he has good experience. Goals are important for all forwards but he is important for us whether he is scoring or not.”

Many believe Costa’s goal drought is simply caused by the speculation of a big-money move to China, but Conte or himself are yet to confirm that.
