Chelsea handed big boost in chase for Fiorentina star

Chelsea have been given a strong boost in their chase for Fiorentina forward Federico Bernardeschi, as the Serie A side are prepared to sell the player to the Premier League – rather than to their Italian rivals Juventus, Calciomercato (via Metro) reports.

Antonio Conte is thought to be a huge admirer of the 23-year-old, who he picked to his Italy squad for the Azzurri’s Euro 2016 tournament last summer.

Bernardeschi, the flying winger, has impressed once again as he has already scored a brilliant 13 goals in 35 appearances in all competitions this season, helping his side to a comfortable mid-table position in the league and all the way to the round of 32 in Europa League.

Chelsea aren’t the only team keen on the player though, as Bundesliga leaders Bayern München are also thought to be interested in Bernardeschi’s signature.

The Blues have also been linked with a move for Fiorentina’s Milan Badelj, but AC Milan have reportedly stepped ahead in the race for the highly rated Croatian midfielder.
