Chelsea have been linked with a shock move for Barcelona full back Jordi Alba.
The former Valencia man has been a constant presence for the Blaugrana in recent seasons, but has lost his place as a guaranteed starter this season as Luis Enrique’s side have struggled for form. The Asturian manager’s switch to a 343 has seen the 28 year old lose his place, despite his skillset seeming perfect for that particular formation.
According to the IBT, Cesc Fabregas has been in touch with his former teammate to encourage him to make the switch to the Premier League this summer as a potential replacement for Marcos Alonso, who has been excellent in Chelsea’s own 343.
Whether he would actually replace Alonso or just provide competition remains to be seen, but it seems unlikely that he would leave Barcelona over a lack of playing time just to warm the bench at Chelsea, so certain assurances would have to be made.
