Diego Costa has revealed that he joined Chelsea because Jose Mourinho was in charge of the club, and he wanted to be part of his team.
It’s come quite clear that Costa has never been a true fan of life in England, but he was seemingly so keen to work under the Portuguese boss he didn’t mind trading the sun of Spain to the rain of England and completed his switch from Atletico Madrid to Stamford Bridge in a £32m deal back in 2014.

Once Mourinho’s second spell at Chelsea came to a horrifying end, Costa was close to rejoining Atletico, but Antonio Conte convinced him to stay.
In an interview for Sky Sports, Costa has stated how grateful he is for Mourinho for making him the player he is today.
“In all honesty I always tell people I am grateful to Mourinho because he helped me a lot.
As a player when you want to improve you always look for the best coach and Mourinho is one of the best.
I wanted to come to Chelsea because of Mourinho. When I considered Chelsea I thought about the fact that Mourinho was here.
He is a coach that demands a lot from his players, he wants the maximum.”
