Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois revealed he has split up with his Spain-based long-term girlfriend Marta Dominguez, which could be a boost for the Blues warding off the interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid.
The La Liga leaders have shown constant interest on the Belgium international for the past few years, but Chelsea are reluctant of letting their star player leave the club in any near future.
Courtois’ desire to get back to his girlfriend and daughter Adriana to Madrid has been diagnosed as a tempting advantage of returning to Spain, where he spent three successful loan years at Atletico Madrid before moving to Stamford Bridge.
However, following the split, Courtois might not be as keen to move back to Spain as before, and his Chelsea stay could be more likely than ever.

We still love each other and we get along very well, but we don’t have a romantic relationship anymore.
But we don’t run away for our responsibilities. We are first and foremost parents of a beautiful princess, Adriana, and our about to be born son, Nicolas.
We’ll strive to give them the love and attention they deserve. Marta and I will be still present in each other’s lives, as good friends and the best parents for our two kids. Their luck is our priority.”

Chelsea have planned to open contract talks with Courtois amid the Real Madrid speculation, but Antonio Conte thinks it’s important to get the season over and dealt with before negotiating any new deals.
