Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata has reportedly turned down a staggering £29.4m-a-year deal at an unnamed Chinese Super League side due to Chelsea’s interest on signing him, Marca reports.
The 24-year-old is reportedly very high on Antonio Conte’s transfer target list ahead of this summer’s transfer window, and the former Juventus forward isn’t keen on a move to Far East despite such eye-watering salary offer.
On the other hand, Diego Costa would be keen to sign the big-money deal that Tianjin Quanjian have offered him, which puts Conte even more alert following Morata’s transfer rejection.
Costa scored his 20th league goal for the Blues in last Monday’s 3-0 victory over Middlesbrough, but his future still looks to be away from Stamford Bridge.
Should he leave, Conte will need to sign at least two new out-and-out strikers, with Everton’s Romelu Lukaku and Morata his main targets.
Michy Batshuayi, who was signed from Marseille in a £32m deal last summer, hasn’t really got to prove himself this term, and could be sent out on loan.
