Antonio Conte gives injury update on David Luiz

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has given a positive update on David Luiz’s injury situation, as his groin problem that forced him off the field against Everton yesterday is not, according to him, as serious as someone might’ve been afraid of.

The Brazilian centre-back was subbed off with ten minutes to play as he had stretched his groin uncomfortably, heading straight into the tunnel once Nathan Ake popped in to cover for him.

Conte said after the game that he hadn’t spoke to the physios yet, but believes that he’ll be able to play in the next game on Monday when the Blues host Middlesbrough at Stamford Bridge.

“I didn’t speak with the doctor about his injury but I don’t think it is a serious injury. I hope in the next game that David Luiz is available to play.”

He also praised the commitment of the player that he has given for the side this season, reminding how he has played through the knee problem that he suffered in November against Manchester City.

“Also now in this part of the season it is important sometimes to try to play if you are not 100 percent. He is showing us great commitment in this season. Don’t forget his injury in the knee after the game against City.”
