Fabregas tussles for the ball in a Premier League fixture

Cesc Fabregas talks about his future plans, low playing time

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas was named as the Man of the Match after the Blues’ 3-0 triumph over Middlesbrough last night, and was interviewed by Sky Sports in a post-match hearing.

He was asked about his own point of view on this season’s low amount of playing time under Antonio Conte, as all sorts of speculation has linked him with a move away from the club.

AC Milan from Italy and Premier League rivals Manchester United and Liverpool have all shown interest on the Spain international, but he has stated to be keen to stay as he likes the challenge of fighting for his place in the Chelsea starting eleven.

The 30-year-old admitted that it’s been a very difficult season for him, but thinks that his contribution for the team is still very valuable.

“It’s been different year for me. I’m used to playing week in week out through my career but I’ve matured a lot.

It’s not easy what has happened to me. Many said I’m not a player for Antonio and I should leave but I like challenges.

I haven’t played every single game but I feel the quality of my minutes this season has been fantastic. I have to be patient and accept that these things happen and that’s it.

I will play for the team and play for the club. It has been a different season for me but I’m still proud.”

Chelsea are linked with a new contract offer for Fabregas to tie him up until 2020.
