Chelsea are racing Barcelona and several other to European clubs to secure the signing of Ajax player Davinson Sanchez.
Sanchez was bought for €5m last summer from Atletico Nacional de Medellin in Colombia, and has proved a big hit in European football.
Ajax have had a good season, reaching the verge of the Europa League final with a talented young team that now risks being taken apart by the circling vultures that are eyeing up their young prospects greedily.
According to Spanish football paper Mundo Deportivo Barcelona were quoted €25m for the player by sporting director Marc Overmars, only to now worry that interest from Chelsea and Bayern Munich will drive his price up closer to the €40m mark. That seems a little steep even for a talented youngster, and the truth may end up being somewhere inbetween.
