Chelsea are preparing to swoop for yet another soundalike as they look to reinforce their defence.
That’s according to Italian transfer site TuttoMercatoWeb, who claim that Atalanta have just rejected a €14m bid for the defender. While this particular bid came from Atletico Madrid, they also cite, Inter, AC Milan Bayern and Chelsea among the interested teams.
It’s no surprise to see Chelsea linked with Serie A talents, as has been the case since the announcement of Antonio Conte’s arrival a year ago. Franck Kessie, one of Conti’s teammates in this impressive Atalanta side, has also been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge this summer.
There were plenty of jokes last summer about Roman Abramovich getting Conte when he really wanted Kante… until of course he also got Kante, and Conte turned out to be the manager of the year…
Given the success we’ve had with those two, another Conti couldn’t hurt…
