Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois believes that winning the title now under Antonio Conte will feel much more special than when the Blues triumphed the trophy in 2015 under the management of Jose Mourinho.
The Blues were abysmal last term as they finished 10th following a very poor campaign that led to the sacking of the Portuguese boss on his second spell at Chelsea.
Courtois suggests that this is the reason why winning the title after a poor season like last term feels so much better and makes it even more significant than it already is.
“This year it will be even more special, even more nice because last year was very bad. We had a lot of criticism and a new manager (Conte) came in.
We also lost a few games near the start and again there were a lot of critics, but we bounced back as a group very hard.
We have played very well, so from that point of view it will be great to lift the trophy very soon.”
Chelsea won’t need more than one win from their remaining three games to clinch their fifth Premier League title in the club’s great history, with two of the last ones at home.
However, the 25-year-old shot-stopper is very determined for the Blues to win the title already this Friday when they face West Brom away.
“We hope to do it at the first attempt. We know West Brom are a hard team to play against, we had a very tough game here.
Every opponent who goes there has a hard game, they are eighth in the League and have had a very good year.”
