Today’s Mirror has linked Michy Batshuayi with a move to West Ham, the club that Chelsea trumped to sign him last summer.
The Belgian striker has not made a single Premier League start for Chelsea since the move, and has inevitably been linked with moves away from the Bridge.
West Ham are said to want him permanently, but given the potential that Michy showed in France Chelsea would be mistaken to give up on him so easily.
A loan would give West Ham the depth up front they have desperately lacked, as well as giving Michy the chance to play more – he will be backing up the famously injury prone Andy Carroll.
Batshuayi could learn a lot from Carroll about playing as a target man in the Premier League, and Slaven Bilic will be able to surround him with good enough players to get the best out of him.
Then in a year’s time when we have actually seen what the forward can do, the Blues can make a more informed decision over whether to let him go for good.
