Chelsea will have to pay an eye-watering fee to land Alvaro Morata this summer,
According to “football.london“, Manchester United have had a £52.4m bid for the forward rejected, and they or the Blues will have to submit an offer of something like £78m to persuade Real to sell.
Morata is happy at Madrid, where he came through the youth academy, and as we have seen this year, is winning trophies of the highest calibre and playing in one of the best teams of recent years. It will take a serious offer not only to persuade Los Blancos but also the forward himself to take the risk of leaving such a sweet setup.
Speaking in the wake of his club’s historic Champions League win, Morata seemed to indicate he would also be willing to stay – but one never knows if he was just being politic given he was in a stadium surrounded by his adoring fans at the time.
