Chelsea striker Diego Costa is adamant not to leave the club this summer although Antonio Conte has maintained he is not part of his plans next season according to the Daily Star.
The controversial forward has had a torrid relationship with boss, Conte, and seemed ready to leave shortly after the season was over, following his revelation that the Italian manager had sent him a text message saying he is not needed next season at Stamford Bridge.
However, with his heart set on moving to former club Atletico Madrid next term, Costa would have to wait until January to make a move to his preferred club.
Atletico have a transfer embargo on them, a situation that means manager, Diego Simeone will stifle any departures and be unable to bring back the 28-year-old this summer. Italian giants Juventus and AC Milan have shown interest making a scoop for the striker.
Costa’s numbers make sense for any manager to want to retain him in their side after 54 goals in 114 appearances in all competitions, however, his frosty relationship with Conte seemed to be the catalyst for his possible departure this summer.
Should he leave to another club, which is unlikely considering the current situation, Chelsea will need a replacement, with Everton’s Romelu Lukaku and Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata mooted.
