Chelsea started their huge Premier League tie against Manchester City strongly, getting well adjusted to the visitors’ high tempo game.
The Blues’ morale was higher than ever after a huge win over Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night. However, having to play such big opponent away from home just 72 hours before another critical game turned out to be much more difficult than hoped.
Chelsea’s golden boy, star striker Alvaro Morata had to call for a sub as soon as ten minutes before half-time, getting replaced by Willian.
The Spain international had injured his hamstring and was a major doubt for the side ahead of the game. Lacking a quality back-up for Morata, manager Antonio Conte had to take the risk and start him upfront tonight.
Morata started the game well, continuing his good form that has already saw him score a hat-trick against Stoke and a vital equalizer against Atletico, but was unfortunate to leave the pitch early.
Hopefully he’ll be fit for our next game against Crystal Palace in two week’s time!
