On Thursday night, the reports flew in about one player or the other joining a club or those certainly not moving anywhere. However, one man was caught in the middle of it all, as the stories went, Ross Barkley arrived in London late on the transfer deadline day, started a medical but did not finish the transfer after changing his mind while having a medical.
Fans were thrown into complete bewilderment. No one knew the real reason a player will decide to return to his club in the middle of a medical with another club, especially after pushing for a move all summer.
Barkley was reportedly not interested in renewing a contract at Everton and was poised to leave the Goodison Park this summer transfer window, with Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur all linked.
However, on in the final hours of the transfer window, he decided to remain with the Toffees and he now opens up on why, with a series of tweets.
Barkley first of all revealed he never had a medical at Chelsea like the reports had it on Thursday.
Contrary to a number of reports in the press, I did not undertake a medical with any club at any point.

He followed it up with a tweet that said he wanted to fully recuperate from hii current injury and then decide where his future lied.
I simply decided that due to my injury, it would be best to make a decision on my future and assess all my options in January when fully fit

For all the confusion, Barkley had words for those who supported him through one of the most perplexing days of his life, apparently.
Thanks for all of the support.
