BREAKING: Chelsea’s technical director Michael Emenalo resigns

Chelsea’s technical director Michael Emenalo has shockingly stepped down from his position after a 10-year service with the Londoner side.

According to The Telegraph Emenalo was not keen to ‘engage in a three-way power battle with Antonio Conte and Marina Granovskaia‘.

Emenalo’s decision to leave the club has not only been a shocking surprise, but also a very heavy blow for owner Roman Abramovich. The Nigerian born 52-year-old has been one of Abramovich’s go-to guys during his time as the owner of the club, and was reportedly one of the very few people he trusted in and took adivce from.

Emenalo and Granovskaia are known to be taking care of most of the club’s first-team transfers and youth reinforcements. Last summer Chelsea experienced a very frustrating transfer window which caused big rift between Emenalo and Conte, as well as the fans.

Despite the recent miscarriages regarding Chelsea’s transfer deals Emenalo has been one of the most influential persons of the ongoing Abramovich era. During Emenalo’s time at Chelsea the club have won the Premier League title three times, the FA Cup, the League Cup, the Europa League and most importantly the Champions League.

And to top them all he will surely be remembered for the few very successful player deals he sealed during the past years, bringing in the likes of Eden Hazard, Thibaut Courtois, Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta.

It will be seen whether Chelsea will go on to try and find a new technical director before January’s transfer window to boost their chances of strengthening the side.
