Chelsea loanee given shocking man of the match award

Chelsea have a few players on loan in the Championship, and along with exciting young fullback Ola Aina at Hull, they also have Jamaican centre back Michael Hector.

Hector has been Leonid Slutsky’s first choice all year in the middle of the defence, and he won the man of the match award on Saturday for his side according to WhoScored’s ratings system.

There’s nothing strange about this, as Hector is a solid defender at that level. What’s odd is was on the losing side, and his team conceded three goals as they surrendered a 2-0 lead to end up losing.

The 25 year old was part of the same mad month of purchases that saw Papy Djilobodji come in to the squad, and while he’s lasted longer at the club than the Frenchman, ultimately it looks as though the club are just fattening him up to be sold for a higher price once he has a few years of Championship experience under his belt.
