Former Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard has praised Alvaro Morata for his displays in the Blues shirt this season, despite the Spanish forward scoring another blank in last night’s Champions League clash against AS Roma.
Chelsea found themselves behind in the match after just 38 seconds of play, and the Blues attack was unable to get the visitors back into the game.
Morata missed a great chance on the first half when a poor clearance from the Roma defence deflected straight for the former Real Madrid man just six yards away from the net. However, the pressure got to him and he blasted his chance well over the bar.
Despite Morata’s six-game goal drough, Gerrard says he sees something ’dreamy’ about the 25-year-old’s play, claiming he would have loved to play with him back in his day.
He’s been brilliant.
I’m a big fan, I would have loved to have played with him at some stage.
He’s a dream for a midfielder, he runs in behind.
Really clever movement in the box, very strong, he can come short or go long.
He’s settled in very quick, he’s a big threat for Chelsea.

A Stephan El Shaarawy brace and a second half strike from Diego Perotti sealed the deal for the hosts, as Roma leaped over Chelsea in the Group C to the first place, leaving the Londoners second with one point away from the top.
Chelsea will still be playing Atletico Madrid at home and Qarabag FK away in the Champions League group stage.
