Chelsea fans were extremely satisfied with Danny Drinkwater’s form last weekend against Newcastle United, with some noting Tiemoue Bakayoko should remain on the bench for the Blues.
Antonio Conte has returned Drinkwater to the starting 11 against the Magpies, after he was benched along with Bakayoko in midweek versus Swansea City.
The England midfielder looked generally impressive playing alongside his former Leicester City teammate N’Golo Kante, with strong passes from midfield while getting to the end of some, in dangerous areas.
Having endured some below par performances by Bakayoko in recent games, Chelsea fans displayed their excitement at seeing one of this summer’s signings prove his worth in the famous blue shirt.
Here are a few of those tweets on Twitter last weekend.

Drinkwater played well today, as he has every time he’s been on for us. He’s going to be a good player for Chelsea. Would love to see him score soon

Looks so solid with Cesc and Kante around him.

Even Antonio Conte noted Drinkwater’s progress in the Chelsea team.
Conte says Danny Drinkwater improved a lot in today's game after a slow start like the whole team, and he is important as another midfield option. #CHENEW

Mark Worrall, Football writer at ESPN, pointed out how Drinkwater will be useful to Chelsea course in the coming weeks.
Danny Drinkwater has a decent set of never say die bollocks on him. Useful for Chelsea in the coming winter weeks.

Former Leicester City forward, now presenter on the BBC, Gary Lineker, reckoned the partnership of Kante and Drinkwater makes him ‘teary’ (after their productive spell together at the King Power stadium two seasons ago).
Watching Kanté and Drinkwater play in midfield is making me teary with nostalgia.
