Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata part of another stunning statistic

Chelsea’s deadliest combination struck once again today in the home game against Brighton.

The home side had been extremely disappointing in the first half, looking sluggish and lazy with Brighton happy to sit deep and hit on the counter.

That all changed after half time, and the Blues were able to find their way into the lead almost immediately with a combination that has served them so well this season: a cross from Cesar Azpilicueta onto the head of Alvaro Morata.

It was the SIXTH time the defender has assisted his countryman this season, all of them carbon copies, with Azpi roaming beyond the halfway line into a bit of space and taking the chance to cross from a narrow area.

Teams must be prepared for it, but there’s only so much they can do in a situation like this, where Azpi was given the ball from a short free kick.
