Antonio Rudiger involved in brawl with international teammate as competition for places heats up ahead of World Cup

Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger was reportedly involved in a brawl with fellow Germany international Joshua Kimmich on Tuesday.

While both men trained under Joachim Loew in Italy, as the world champions continue preparations for the World Cup in Russia in a few weeks time, Rudiger and Kimmich were spotted furiously exchanging words while going forehead to forehead. That prompted the coaching staff to intervene before things were escalated according to Bild.

In a picture tweeted by Chelsea Movement on Twitter, assistant coach Miroslav Klose was the man who first stepped up to split the two men as tempers cooled down shortly afterwards.

Rudiger is hoping to earn a place in the Germany team in the coming World Cup after playing so well at Chelsea in his first season in England. He was one of the most trusted defenders by Antonio Conte, who suffered an indifferent season winning the FA Cup but missing out on Champions League football.
