Chelsea youngster explains his difficult year in senior football

Making the breakthrough into senior football is never easy.

It’s probably a lot more difficult when you come from a side that’s used to winning everything.

That’s been the case for Ola Aina, who grew up at the Chelsea academy. There he was part of teams that would dominate games. From the earliest stages of his football career, Ola is used to playing in winning teams, and sides that dominate the ball and give him plenty of chances to attack.

That all changed this year when he finally got a move to senior football at Hull City. Suddenly Ola went from playing in youth sides where he was physically dominant to games where he was the youngest player on the pitch.

Hull have had an awful season, but at least Ola has learned a lot. As he says in the account of his season on the Hull City Tigers website, it’s been a steep learning curve, but for him it’s been very productive.

Let’s hope that can translate to Premier League football this year.
