Claudio Ranieri backs “the right man” for Sarri partnership

Former Chelsea boss Claudio Ranieri has claimed that the proposed Maurizio Sarri – Gianfranco Zola managerial partnership would be great for the club.

Sarri is the front runner for the soon to be vacant role, and there have been rumours that he might get bona-fide Chelsea legend Zola in alongside him to be assistant, to help create a connection with the club and the fans.

ESPN have quotes from former Chelsea boss Ranieri, who was extremely positive about the potential partnership between the two.

“Knowing Zola very well — a truly loyal and unique person — if he were to be chosen by Sarri to help him at the beginning, he’d be the right man,” said Ranieri.

Sarri would bring the tactical rigor and the style of play, while Zola could be the personable side. In theory at least, it’s a perfect match.

You’d be hard pressed to find a Chelsea fan who is against getting Zola back in at the club. Sarri is a more controversial appointment, and certainly a gamble, but maybe the blend of the two together would work well.
