Chelsea are not the most attractive club for top players in the coming transfer window, with the lack of Champions League football next season,, but that will not deter the club from signing top players according to Cesar Azpilicueta.
The Spanish defensive giant is expecting his side to secure quality players to beef up the squad that failed considerably last season. Despite winning the FA Cup, Antonio Conte was deemed not good enough after falling 30 points behind Manchester City in the Premier League standings, while finishing fifth.
The blues also crashed out of the Champions League and failed to deliver the European trophy that could have earned them qualification into the competition next season.
Despite the FA Cup glory, much has been said about how players will snub the Blues in chase of Champions League football but Azpilicueta does not think so.
The Chelsea vice-captain think they can bring in top players to boost their squad if the club decides to sign them.
“Of course big players will still want to come to Chelsea because we win lots of silverware. I have no doubt that the club will get a squad that can compete to win for trophies. I am sure that will happen.
If the club decides that we need to get players in, I’m sure we will get the quality we want. It was important to win this season with a trophy. It shows we are still winners. When the results are not there, people look for something else.”
